Scott Rettew (born November 19, 1965) is a retired American professional ice hockey player. ==Career== Rettew turned professional in 1985, skating with the New York Slapshots of the ACHL, finishing fourth in the team in scoring with 48 points in 56 games. The following season, Rettew returned to the Slapshots for one game before the team was folded due to financial problems. The ACHL held a dispersal draft several days later. Rettew, along with teammates Todd Flanigan, Stuart Frye, and Steve Plaskon, were transferred to the Mohawk Valley Comets. Former Slapshot coach Joe Selenski would join his former players in Utica several days later. Rettew finished the season at a point-per-game pace, scoring 46 goals in 44 games. Rettew helped lead the Comets to the ACHL Finals by scoring 26 points in 20 games. However, the Comets would come one game short from winning their first Bob Paine Trophy, losing four games to three to eventual ACHL champion Virginia Lancers (who were coached by future Stanley Cup-winning coach John Tortorella.) Rettew, along with Slapshots head coach Joe Selenski and teammates Joe DeMitchell and Dwight Boss, all joined the Johnstown Chiefs on short notice in January 1988. In their abbreviated season, Rettew led the team in goals scored with 36 goals in only 25 games and tied for the team lead in points scored (with teammate Rob Hrytsak) with 61 points. The following season, Rettew joined the Carolina Thunderbirds late in the season, playing 5 regular season games. Rettew returned to Johnstown during the 1988-89 finals and was on the ice when the Carolina Thunderbirds defeated the Johnstown Chiefs 4 games to 3 on a last minute goal. Rettew joined the Nashville Knights for the 1989-90 ECHL season, reuniting him with a former teammate from his junior days, Jeff Salzbrunn. Rettew led the Knights with 41 assists. Rettew briefly returned to the Knights for the 1990-91 season and scored seven points in seven games.
